Spinoza - Collected works
In order to provide a background to the students on the concepts, I maintained a blog in pararllel with the class schedule. Most of the blog materail was written after the class in order to provide students some relevant follow up material since the classes were not recorded. I continued the blog even after we did the recording, which happened with the start of Segment II. The blogs were saved as articles by Mr Sandeep Srivastava at the website of Dwarkamai Vidyapeeth, an institution of faith run by the devotees of Saibaba of Shirdi, the Islamic saint who worked on the harmony of religions in India in late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The "articles" are being edited by Anne Goewey, a student in our class. We plan to expand them and compile the unit as a book under the title "Yoga as a Science."
Yoga is science because it is universal. It is applicable to anyone, the results are predictable. It has been experimented by thousands of practitioners. More are trying out everyday. In the modern day world of boundaries, nationalities, races and religions, the individual tries to assume of a limited pedigree. Yoga confers a divine pedigree and lifts the human from the shallow earthly divisions. These notes can be read for a broad overview of the yoga thesis and techniques.
